Sibyl Priest

April 2, 1939 — May 16, 2023

Sibyl Muriel Priest, 84 of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023, surrounded by her children after a short battle with cancer.

Delivered by her dad, she was born in Everton, Arkansas on April 2, 1939. The family moved to Mayfield, Kentucky shortly afterward where she lived until she was 8 years old. The family intended to move to Washington state, but stopped in Burley, Idaho to see family and decided to stay. She graduated from Burley High School in 1958.

She met and married C. Ray Priest in 1960. They made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They had so many fun adventures together. They loved snowmobile riding, motorcycle trips, camping and traveling in their 5th wheel. She worked for 31 years in the grocery business. After 23 years at Albertsons, where many of her customers became her friends, she retired in 2001. Sibyl enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and taking her sweet girl, Tayla, on daily walks.

Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and most recently her great grandchildren. There wasn’t an event, program, recital or birthday party she didn’t attend. She was known for always having a warm delicious meal ready on the table, or to make something for someone in need. Her friends were so dear to her. They had so many fun travels and adventures together throughout the years, memories which she reminisced about regularly. She especially wanted to thank them for their meals, love, hugs, and dog walks of her beloved Tayla.

Sibyl enjoyed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and attended Watersprings church.

We will all miss her sense of humor, kind words and warm hugs. We especially would like to thank Dr. Adams, One Source Home Health and Hospice and her special nurses Corina and Pat for their kindness and compassion.

Sibyl is survived by her children, Rick (Pam) Priest of Kuna, Idaho, Machelle (Brent) Bergeman and Mike (Lori) Priest of Idaho Falls, Idaho, her grandchildren, Zachary (Hailey) Priest, Tyrell (Lauren) Butikofer, Addie Priest, Kelsey (Ryan) Behm, Tanner Priest, James (Rachel) Priest, Maddie Priest, Baylee (Randy) Walker, Heather Bergeman and Devan Bergeman, and her great grandchildren, Paige, Kinley, Raelynn, Brooke, Cohyn, Charlie, Jackson, Jack, Deklyn, Ellie, Piper, Jack, Camden, Cooper, and Cortlynd, her brother, Jim (Vickie) Turney, sisters-in-law, Maurine Ruane, Betty Anderson, Marjorie Jensen, and Shirley Priest and many nieces and nephews. We are certain there was a glorious reunion with her husband of 51 years, Ray Priest, her grandson, Brennan O’Rourke, great granddaughter, Leigha O’Rourke, her parents, Lee and Elizabeth Turney, sister, Pat Czebator, brother, Charles Turney, brothers-in-law, Jim Priest, Max Priest and Marvin Smith and sister-in-law, Carol Smith.
