RONALD G. EDDINGTON

1/24/1936 – 11/25/2021

Ron Eddington, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, 11/25/2021, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from a heart attack.

Ron was born on January 24, 1936, to Della and Major Eddington and grew up in Haileyville, Oklahoma.  He was the youngest of seven children.  His oldest sister, Eula, also died on a Thanksgiving Day.  He graduated from Haileyville High School in 1954.  He was an award-winning boxer in school.  After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed for four years in Fresno, California.  He served as an Air Force police officer.  After four years in the Air Force, he attended and  earned an AA degree at Fresno City College, majoring in speech (he liked to talk), and planned to become a radio and television announcer.  He then transferred to Fresno State College.  While at Fresno State, he met the love of his life, Diana.  They married in Fresno on November 4, 1961, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

He worked for many years in Southern California as an appliance salesman selling to home builders.  He won awards as salesman of the year.  After retiring, he was able to pursue his interests in genealogy, gardening, cooking, fishing, reading, football (Oklahoma Sooners), and taxidermy.  He was an award-winning oil painter and belonged to the Idaho Art Guild and got a lot of pleasure and admiration from painting, as well as giving his family and the community many beautiful paintings.

He and Diana traveled on cruises to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Mexico and the Eastern coast.  They loved visiting new areas of the country and took many car trips throughout California.

He is survived by his wife, Diana, his three children, son Ron, and twin daughters Amy and Erin; and beloved by his eight grandchildren, Megan Eddington Greene, Kathleen Eddington, Emily Eddington Shawkey, Stephen Maria, Laura Eddington, Elizabeth Maria, Riley Eddington and Sophie Eddington, and was enchanted by his four great-granddaughters, Isabella Greene, Aurelia Eddington, Celia Greene and Waverly Eddington.  Ron was preceded in death by his four-month-old grandson, Mitchell Eddington who died of SIDS.

A private family “Celebration of Life” service will be held at the family home on December 23rd.  Condolences may be sent online at www.BuckMurphy.com.
