Gary Scott

Gary was born on May 17, 1935 to Garth (Jack) and Leola Vilate Lee Zundel in Rigby, Idaho. He was raised during his early years by his grandparents. His mother later met and married Marshall Graham Scott, who adopted Gary at the age of 8.

Gary Graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1953. He also briefly attended the University of Idaho.

For employment during his younger years, Gary worked at his parent’s business in downtown Idaho Falls; Scott’s Book Store. He Then went to work for the railroad, but eventually was found that he was too young and had to go home.

He served in the Navy from 1956 until 1962. He became a radar specialist, who then served in the Pacific Ocean on a destroyer.

At an early age, Gary discovered his love of motorcycles and being outdoors. He used to drive to through Arco to race in Boise. He later developed a passion for snowmobiles, which led Gary to work for many years in research and development for Bombardier. He liked to tell how he won a race against snowmobiles when he was riding a motorcycle. That race got him interested in snowmobiles and their development. In 1978, he started working for the INL as a bus driver. He eventually retired in 1995.

Gary and Thelma Long had one daughter during their marriage; Tammy. He was then blessed with two more daughters, Angela and Jennifer, during his marriage to Janet Talbot. Angie and Jennifer picked up their father’s love of snow machining and the outdoors.

He then met and married Pat Hanks.

In 1993, Gary married Karen Pack Hall and they have been happily wed for 29 years, Gary and Karen enjoyed spending their time traveling, exploring the great outdoors, and being with family and Gracie.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, daughters Angie Lee (Mike) and Jennifer Scott (Dillon), step-children Michel Hall (Michelle), Krystal Hall, and Marsha Megan Stokes (Scott), grandsons (Jeremy Wise (Brandi), Colton Scott-Borsom, and Ben Lydell, step-grandsons Christopher Stokes, Lucas Stokes, William Stokes and Keegan Hall, great-grandchildren Brooklyn Wise, Mason Wise, Gage Wise, and Dax Wise, half-brothers and sisters Marsha Ball, Kathy Walden, Janet Johnson, Greg Zundel, Jackie Garner, and Bryce Zundel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tammy, step-children Lisa and Jeffery and half-brother Brad Zundel.

Services will be held March 19th at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church 325 Elm Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
