Wilbur "Webb" Malone

May 1, 1928 — January 6, 2011

Wilbur "Webb" Lee Malone, 82, of Twin Falls, Idaho returned home peacefully Thursday, January 6, 2011,with his family by his side.
Webb was born May 1, 1928 at Greenwood in Hazelton, Idaho to Herschel Emerson and Aleatha Mae Poole Malone, the youngest of ten children.
He grew up in the Twin Falls area and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1946. He was active in all sports, particularly basketball. He was proud of his accomplishment of playing on the varsity basketball team as a freshman. One of his team members recently remarked that he was ‘the most talented all-around athlete at Twin Falls High School.'
He married his high school sweetheart, Denece Drown, on June 20, 1948 in Twin Falls. To this union were born four children. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1965.
Webb started his career with Continental Baking Company as a route salesman. During his life time he was employed in life insurance sales, grocery store management, and electrical sales and distribution. He retired from Berkley Pump Company as a Western regional sales representative.
In 1995 he was awarded Person of the Year by the Idaho Irrigation Equipment Association (IIEA). He served on the board of directors in 1994-95. During this period of time he made many lifelong friends.
After retiring he and Denece enjoyed trips to the East coast, Hawaii, Canada, and Mexico.
Webb took pleasure in many different things. He was a real outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting and fishing along with raising and riding horses. But most of all he looked forward to golfing.
He was devoted to enjoying time with his family--children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was always supportive and willing to help others. His mission in life was to uplift others in any way he could. He was known for his "quick wit." He was always the life of the party, enjoyed family gatherings and greeted everyone with a smile and a hug.
In 1974, after the death of their son Larry, an annual memorial golf scholarship tournament was established in Larry's honor by the Rocky Mountain section of the PGA. Webb was actively involved with the tournament for over 35 years.
Webb was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Elder's Quorum and in scouting.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Denece.
