Virginia Arlene Hellinga

May 1, 1933 — October 27, 2015

Virginia was born in Payette, Idaho, on May 1, 1933, the third child of Robert and Stella Belknap. She lived most of her years and attended school in Payette.
She married the love of her life, William (Bill) Hellinga of Payette and they had four children, Gerald, Roderick, Cindy and Kimberly. Bill passed away in Payette from complications of diabetes in his 70s. Her daughter, Cindy, also died from diabetic complications in her 40s. Virginia was a lifelong homemaker and loved children so much that, in addition to her four children--she and Bill became foster parents. She also loved music and was a master of many musical instruments. One instrument that many members of her church loved to hear her play was the marimba. In her later years, she watched two of her grandsons playing a video game and thought it looked fun. She purchased her own game console and quickly upgraded to a personal computer. She became something of a senior citizen computer geek and with the world now opened to her fingertips; became the family genealogy wiz. She was a lifelong member of the Payette Assembly of God Church. She is survived by her sons, Gerald residing in Alabama; Roderick residing in Oregon and daughter Kimberly of Payette. She has 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, her parents, two brothers, a grandson, great grandson, and a nephew A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2nd at Riverside Cemetery in Payette, where Virginia will be placed next to her husband, Bill. A viewing will be held from 1-2 p.m., prior to service at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. "For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." 2 Corinthians 5:1Virginia A. Hellinga, 82, of Fruitland, Idaho, passed away on October 27, 2015, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise.
