Tay Roy "TR" David Kibble
October 18, 1945 — March 5, 2024
Tay was born October 18, 1945, at St. Alphonsus Hospital, Boise, Idaho to Calvin and Kathryn (Austin) Kibble.
He spent his early years at Cascade, where his father Calvin worked for Idaho Power. Calvin instilled a love of nature, hunting and fishing in TR.
When Calvin was transferred to Caldwell, Tay became a star high school running back, earning a football scholarship to Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana.
After graduation, he taught at a Nampa middle school and coached football which he loved. He took his students on outdoor adventures including teaching them winter survival skills.
Then, he worked at various jobs, including paper route, working with his dad with Idaho Power company, Smith Food King meat and produce departments, laid pipe, and sold farm buildings. TR got the most satisfaction from his own businesses sharpening surgical instruments, restaurant knives, salon shears, and washing windows.
The outdoors was his spiritual sanctuary. TR loved floating and fishing the South Fork of the Snake, Fire Hole, Teton and Henry’s Fork Rivers and backpacking into Idaho's Pistol Lake. In addition to fishing, he enjoyed shooting black powder rifles as he loved to connect with the old time Mountain Men. His spiritual pursuits included meditation, writing poetry, and learning the spiritual ways of Native Americans.
Tay will be missed for brightening the day for everyone around him, his corny sense of humor, and his sarcasm knew no bounds. One of his favorite expressions was, “Nothing is worse than a dull knife. I even sharpen dull personalities.” He would often remind those around him that he shares his Love and his Light.
He is survived by: brother William “Bill” (Carole) Kibble. From his marriage with Gayle Bradshaw: adopted daughter Kari Benton, adopted son Brion Hand, son Shane Kibble, daughter Sharee Hammett Kibble. From his second marriage with Courtney Guyer (who passed away on 2/24/2010), her children whom he supported: Jason, Ashley, and Justin.
At Tay’s request, his ashes will be spread in the wilderness. All are invited to attend a Mass offered for Tay at 8 a.m., Monday, Dec. 30, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Boise, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at a different location to be determined.
