Patricia Ann Tuttle McPheters passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at the age of 68, while surrounded by loved ones in Idaho after a long and courageous battle with illness.
Patricia had traveled to Idaho to spend time with family when an unexpected stroke changed the course of her journey. Though she hoped to recover enough to return home to Washington, she remained surrounded by constant love, family, laughter, shared meals, stories, and daily celebrations of life until the very end.
September 1989 marked the beginning of a lifelong love story shared between Patricia and her husband, Gilbert Steven McPheters — a partnership built on perseverance, family, compassion, and unwavering devotion.
Born the eldest of four children, Patricia deeply cherished her family throughout her life and is survived by her brothers, Matthew Tuttle and Fredrick Tuttle, and her sister Karen Linebrink.
Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, artist, lifelong learner, and caregiver not only to her own children, but to many others she welcomed into her home and heart over the years. She is survived by her four children, extended family, and countless “adopted” loved ones whose lives were forever shaped by her kindness, fierce protection, encouragement, and generosity.
A passionate lover of books and creativity, Patricia owned and operated a bookstore for many years and shared her love of reading, art, and imagination with everyone around her. She studied English and art in college as a young woman and later continued her education through Grays Harbor College, pursuing additional studies in computers and other subjects simply for the joy of continuing to learn and grow.
She was also lovingly known within her community as the “popcorn lady,” volunteering at local grade schools for many years and becoming a familiar and comforting presence to countless children and families. Service to others remained a central part of Patricia’s life. Whether through volunteer work, helping neighbors, supporting her children’s families, or opening her doors to those in need, she quietly carried on a lifelong tradition of caring for others.
Patricia was a gifted artist and painter whose creativity reflected the warmth, emotion, and beauty she saw in the world around her. Her life was marked by resilience, compassion, humor, intelligence, and deep love for family. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, cared for, and seen, and her influence stretched far beyond her immediate family.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Gilbert Steven McPheters, her children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and the many people fortunate enough to have been loved by her throughout her life.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of life will be announced at a future date once arrangements are finalized.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered prayers, meals, visits, support, and kindness throughout Patricia’s illness and during this difficult time. Her life touched far more people than could ever be counted, and her memory will continue to live on through every act of kindness inspired by her example.
