Mildred Geraldine "Gerry" Robinett

SPOKANE, Wash. - Mildred Geraldine "Gerry" Robinett, 91 of Spokane, WA, died September 7, 2016. She died from fractured vertebrae resulting from a fall.
Gerry was born August 17, 1925 in Montgomery Township, MO to Oscar E. and Eva S. Bowlin. She was the first born of 14 children.
She married the love of her life, Jack Robinett Nov. 11, 1950 in Elko NV.
She attended Montgomery Elementary, a one room school in Manes MO, Mountain Grove High school in Mountain Grove, MO and Eden High school in Eden, ID.
Gerry was a hard worker from an early age. She was charged with tending to her younger siblings and performing all manner of household chores. To earn money, she sold eggs and shined her uncles' shoes.
In 1947 she went to work as a waitress and cook at Hartley's cafe in Hazelton. She worked there until she got married. From 1960 to 1990 she worked for several local bean warehouses as a bean sorter in winter and blight inspector in summer.
Gerry grew up on a farm outside Manes, MO. She moved with her parents and 9 younger siblings to the Eden/Hazelton area of Idaho in 1945. She settled in Hazelton Id in 1965 with her husband and 2 children. She lived there until she moved to Spokane WA in 2013 to be near her good friend, Ruby McNevin and her sister Kitty Rogers.
Gerry loved to cook. She employed many skills she had learned from Mrs. Hartley. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery, gardening, deer hunting and fishing. She liked going to rodeos and team roping events to watch her husband compete.
She is survived by her son John Robinett, Jr. of Ollala WA, her daughter, Linda Snider of Bellingham WA, 17 grandchildren, one great-grandson, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11 am at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park," 136 4th Ave E., Twin Falls, Idaho. Condolences may be left at www.whitemortuary.com.
