Mary Jean B. Walter, 69 years of age passed away at EIRMC.
Mary was born on Oct. 13, 1951, at Fort Ord California to Robert and Ella Gorsuch. She graduated from Castro Valley High School in 1968. Following high school, she went to USF and graduated with a B.A. in philosophy and theology. She relocated to Wyoming to study law at the university. During this time, she met John Walter the love of her life. They married on 12/28/1974. In December of 2020, they celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.
Her hobbies included design and creating jewelry. She and her business partner Robert Carter owned a bead jewelry store for 15 years. She was affectionally known as "The bead lady." Other hobbies included bridge and travel on cruise ships.
She and her husband were members of the SCA, a medieval reenactment group. The two of them designed and made Elizabethan clothing as part of their membership.
Her crowning attributes were the ability to draw people together, care for those down on their luck, and her love and fostering of cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband John Walter, her son Dan, her daughter Beth of New York; Cousins, Debbie of Texas, Danny and Andy of Wyoming, Mark and Paul of California, Uncle Dan of California, and Aunt Maleva of Wyoming currently living in Texas.
Rosary service will be held at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home at 7:00 pm on June 15., 825 E. 17th Street, Idaho Falls. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Rosary at 11:00 am on June 16., 905 S. Lee Ave. Idaho Falls. Reception to follow at 12:15pm at Christ the King Church, 1690 E 17th St, Idaho, ID 83404.
Instead of flowers, the family request memorial donations are made to the Idaho Falls Community Food Basket in Mary's name. P.O. Box 2236, Idaho Falls, ID 83403-2236.
