Mary Jeanette Larsen

Our Mom, Mary Jeanette Fitzsimons Larsen, left this earth peacefully to meet our Dad on June 19, 2015. She was 85 years old. Mary Jeanette was born the fourth of five children on Sept. 26, 1929 in Greely, Nebraska to Elizabeth J. Harris and Elsie T. Fitzsimons. Jeanette was raised in Greely, Nebraska until age six when the family migrated during the Dust Bowl to New Plymouth, Idaho in 1935. Jeanette attended school in New Plymouth, Idaho, graduating in 1947. During that same year she represented New Plymouth and the surrounding area as the Payette County Apple Blossom Princess.
Mom and Dad (Lawrence "Nig" Larsen) met on a blind date at an Emmett town basketball game where Mom always said "Dad was the best looking player out there." They fell in love and were married on February 9, 1948 in New Plymouth, Idaho. They were married for 66 years. Their married life began in Caldwell, Idaho where Dad was a student at the College of Idaho.
Jeanette and "Nig" were blessed with three children; Cindy Dolton (Mike), New Plymouth, Idaho, Eric Larsen (Dolores), Weiser, Idaho and Cortney Larsen (Karyn), Meridian, Idaho.
Mom worked at several jobs during her life, including teacher assistant at Ontario High School, Manager of Hatches Book Store, Conrad's Dress Shop, Weiser Merc Department Store, and lastly was one of the original crew for the Ontario Wal-Mart Store.
Our Mom was a wonderful Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma and cherished time spent with family and friends. Raised as a devout Catholic, Mom's belief in our Lord gave her strength and courage.
Jeanette is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws Janie Fitzsimons and Eula Fitzsimons, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Mom and Dad, brothers Jerome Fitzsimons, Chuck Fitzsimons, Jimmie Fitzsimons and Bobbie Fitzsimons.
Our family would like to give a special thanks to Sunset Memory Care Center staff and Heart ‘n Home Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our Mom.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 29th at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Fruitland. Inurnment will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to Jeanette's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.
