Grace K. Blackstead

Grace K (Fisher) Blackstead, 107 of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at her son's home in Nampa, Idaho.

Grace was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She met and married Orville Blackstead in 1941 and they lived in California and Chicago before settling in Idaho Falls in 1951 to raise their family. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and actively served her community with volunteerism until she moved to Nampa in 2022.

Grace was very active throughout her life. She loved to travel and was able to visit numerous countries and cities throughout the world. Every time the family gathered with her she would ask when her next trip would be. Grace was adventurous and on her 107 birthday she took a helicopter ride (with no doors) to celebrate! Grace said her secret to longevity was faith, family and friends, along with her love of sweets, dessert and dancing.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, of 48 years, her parents Otilda and Alfred Fisher and two very protective brothers Alex and Ransom. She is survived by her children, Susan Adami, James, Patti, Doug, Rod (Dawn), and Ritchie (Margaret) Blackstead. Along with 5 grandchilden and 5 great grand children. Grace also had many close friends who became part of her family, including Calli and Fred Griffel and Bob Snyder.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the ALS Foundation or the Idaho Falls Humane Society. A funeral service will be celebrated Sunday June 7, 2026 at Buck Murphy Funeral Home at 2:00pm.

The graveside service, Monday June 8th, at 11:00 AM will be held at Fielding Memorial Cemetery, 4900 S Yellowstone Hwy, Idaho Falls.
