George Anson Davis, 84, of Fruitland, passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 at St. Alphonsus - Ontario. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Wednesday, Sept. 17th at the Ontario Elks Lodge. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to George's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. George was born Aug. 3, 1930 in Cambridge, NY to Anson B. Davis and Hazel Strawn Davis. He married Laura Roena Pankau on March 3, 1951. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea. George worked as a body and fender man his entire life. He was a member of the Ontario Elks B.P.O.E. #1690 and a member of the New Plymouth Oddfellows Lodge #83. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid reader. He is survived by his son Bruce (Sue) of Payette; his daughter Brenda Pennington (Ron) of Asotin, WA; his sister Dorothy Webber of Eugene, OR; five grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law Janie Fitzsimons and a brother-in-law Duane Ness; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Roena; three sons Bob, Tom and Tim; his parents; and a sister Betty McGuiness.
