Donald Hurst

On August 27, 2025, Donald Hurst of Mackay peacefully left this world and returned home to heaven.

Donald met the love of his life, Connie, while in high school. The two quickly became sweethearts and shared a beautiful journey together. They were married on October 30, 1970, and spent 55 wonderful years side by side raising four sons and building a life filled with love, family, and adventure.

Donald had a deep love for the outdoors, especially the mountains. His passion for nature was evident throughout his life and career as a hardworking cattleman for various ranches. He also loved hunting, fishing, and packing into the high country—activities that truly brought him joy.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Connie Hurst of Mackay, his sisters Janice (Wayne) Lott of Deer Lodge, Montana, and Elizabeth (Reed) Stewart of Idaho Falls. Donald was a proud father to four sons: George (Linda) Hurst of Lima, Montana, Adam Hurst of Sidney, Montana, Derk Hurst of Mackay, and Michael Hurst of Ennis, Montana. He was also blessed with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Hurst, as well as his brothers John Hurst, Paul Hurst (along with his wife Vicky and their children; Paul is survived by his son Scott Hurst), and Richard Hurst (survived by his wife LaRene and family).

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Buck-Murphy’s Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th St., Idaho Falls, ID. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
