Delores Mardell Roy, "Dee", 71, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2011. A viewing for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the West Valley Free Methodist Church, Fruitland, with Pastor Rick Kerr officiating. Burial will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Condolences may be made to the family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.
Delores was born in Lewellen, NE to Kenny and Frances Rogers on May 10, 1939. She grew up working on the family farms in Oshkosh, NE with her younger sister Sharon. Delores married Bill Briggs on May 11, 1957 in Nebraska. She moved to Idaho when Bill got stationed at the Mountain Home Air Force Base. While in Mountain Home she gave birth to their first son Brett Briggs who passed away at just 9 months old. She then had three boys, Brian and Kevin Briggs both born in McCall and then Troy Briggs born in Ontario. Delores then remarried and had a daughter Amanda who was born in Ontario. Delores and Willie Roy moved their family to Spokane, WA in 1977 where they continued to raise the four children. In 1992 Delores and Amanda moved back to the Treasure Valley where she would remain. Delores found a niche with Orchard Bank now known as Intermountain Community Bank where she worked for 17 years making numerous friends, both as co-workers and customers of the bank. Delores will be forever loved and missed by all those that knew her.
Delores leaves behind her sister Sharon and Joe Snow of Fruitland; three sons Brian and Debbie Briggs and family of Newman Lake, WA, Kevin and Cindy Briggs and family of Spokane, WA, Troy and Jan Briggs and family of Spokane, WA; daughter Amanda and Dan Reed and family of Fruitland; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Rogers; her mother, Frances Rogers; and her son, Brett Briggs.
