Clara A "Tweeter" Peterson Jacobson

November 19, 1933 — April 8, 2024

Idaho Falls

Clara A. “Tweeter” Peterson Jacobson, age 90, passed peacefully on April 8, 2024, surrounded by her dear friends under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho and MorningStar Assisted Living. Clara lived a fiercely independent and full life. She loved music, dancing, and the arts. This B. Burrow poem describes her perfectly:

That Woman is a Success . . .
who loves life and lives it to the fullest;
who has discovered and shared the strengths and talents that are uniquely her own;
who puts her best into each task and leaves each situation better than she found it;
who seeks and finds that which is beautiful in all people . . . and all things;
whose heart is full of love and warm with compassion;
who has found joy in living and peace within herself.

Clara was born in Idaho Falls to Harold and Alma (Fyllingsnes) Peterson. A graduate of Idaho Falls High School and Idaho State University, Clara found her calling in education and music. After obtaining her bachelors’ degree, Clara taught elementary school from 1957 through 1984.

Clara married Andy J. Jacobson in 1956, although in 1987 the marriage ended in divorce, they remained good friends until his death. Clara enjoyed life to the fullest, which included her passion for learning and travel. She traveled throughout the world, but highlights of her travels included Portugal, Spain, London, Paris, Normandy, Amsterdam, Belgium, a safari in Africa, and her yearly trips to Maui. Clara enriched the community through volunteering at the Colonial Theater, Museum of Idaho, and the Idaho Falls Symphony Chorale (even singing once with a group at Carnegie Hall in 2004). In November 14, 2018, Clara decided to “settle down” with her new love Arnold (Ron) Ayers.

Clara is proceeded in death by her husband, Ron Ayers; her parents; brother, Richard (Rick) Peterson, and brother, Carl Eugene (Gene) Peterson. Clara leaves behind nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A private memorial to honor Clara’s life will be held at a later date. Please email ClaraJacobson33@gmail.com for details.

Donations in Clara’s name to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, the Museum of Idaho, or the Idaho Falls Symphony are welcome.
