Cecil Leroy Vogt

Cecil Leroy Vogt, age 84, of Payette, passed away at home on Friday, May 11, 2018. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at 2pm at Riverside Cemetery in Payette. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel Payette, Idaho. Cecil was born September 28, 1933 in Colorado, the youngest son of Henry and Hilda Vogt. Cecil was a standout athlete at Cambridge High School, especially in football and baseball, graduating in 1953. Shortly after his marriage to Beverly Bain of Cambridge, he was drafted into the Army. He spent almost two years in Germany. Bev and their son Roger, joined him there in 1955. A second son, Steven, was born in 1960. They divorced but remained friends for life. Cecil later married Jeanette Secrest; they were happily married for 40 years until her passing in 2003. Cecil owned and operated C.L. Vogt Wood Products in Payette for approximately 20
years. After retirement, Cecil, an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing and hunting, gardening and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He remodeled a bus as a camper, naming it the "Vogtswagon". He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. Cecil accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and was baptized March 21, 2006, at Treasure Valley Baptist Church, Meridian, Idaho. Survivors include his sons, Roger and Steven (Amy); grandchildren Andrea Fenner (Jim), Nathan Vogt (Michelle), Kendelle Sundell (Ander), Blade Bergquist, Isaac Vogt (Sierra); great-grandchildren, Paige (Porter), Braydon, Ella, Violet, Soren; great-great grandson Bentley; his sister-in-law Elva, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jan Vogt, three brothers Clarence, Hank, Harold and his sister Gladys, four nieces and four nephews. The family appreciates the good care he received at the VA hospital in Boise.
