She had been outside - her favorite place to be, second only to being in her home with family and friends and food aplenty - and came inside where she died instantly of a natural cause.
Betty , born on September 17, 1931 in Vici Oklahoma to Opal and Roy Dennett, was the first of four children. The Dennett family lived in the Vici area until 1935 when they moved to New Plymouth.
All who knew Betty loved and admired her for her strength, authenticity and honesty. She lived life her way - until the very end, which was her greatest wish. Her family and friends are endlessly thankful that she was able to do so. Betty was well-known as a homemaker extraordinaire. Her gardening, cooking, baking, love of family and friends, and creating detailed family records and photo albums have made her famous among all who know her.
Betty graduated Fruitland High School in 1949, and shortly thereafter married her sweetheart, David Pittman. Betty and Dave became parents in 1951 to their daughter, Shelly Pittman, and in 1953 to their son, David Pittman. The family lived in New Plymouth until 1960 when they moved to Tillamook, Oregon, moving in 1968 to Vancouver, WA. In 1996, Dave passed away from cancer, and Betty moved back to Idaho to be near her brother, Bill Dennett, and sisters, Beverly Schlottman (Grangeville) and Bonnie Gill (Baker City), sisters and brothers-in-law, her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many of her old high school friends.
Betty and Dave had enjoyed traveling together to visit family in Australia and Hawaii, and after Dave's death, she continued to take adventures visiting family and many gorgeous and historic places between the two coasts, and a memorable cruise to Alaska with a boat-load of family and friends.
In 1979, their one and only, deeply loved grandson, Ty Wyatt, was born. He and his wife, Aprilynn, gave Betty the unequalled blessing of two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Katie. The Wyatt family traveled from their home in Central, California to spend this last Christmas week with their Grandma Betty which she held very near and dear to her heart.
Betty is survived by her sister, Beverly Schlottman, Grangeville, ID, daughter, Shelly Pittman (New Hampshire and California), son Dave Pittman (Ann), Sheridan, WY, grandson, Ty Wyatt (Aprilynn), Salinas CA, Sister-in-Law, LaPreal Dennett, of New Plymouth, ID, Brother-in-law Dennis Gill of Baker City, OR, grandchildren Benjamin and Katie Wyatt, and her many nephews, nieces and cousins whom were very loved by her.
Betty is preceded in death by Dave, her husband of 47 years, her parents and parents-in-law, and three of the people she loved most dearly: her brother, Bill Dennett (New Plymouth ID), sister-in-law Anna Svenson (Prince George BC Canada), and sister, Bonnie Gill (Baker City).
