Betty Evans

Betty Fern Evans, 94, died Nov. 27 at Morning Star Senior Living.
She was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Belden, NE, the daughter of
Roy and Grace Roland. In high school, she was an honor student
and enjoyed playing basketball. She won a competitive regent's fullfee
scholarship to University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She completed teacher
training and taught for two years. She married Merle Evans in Jan.
31, 1942, and lived in California and Texas while he served in World War II.
After the war, the couple farmed in Nebraska before moving to Idaho in 1952
And farming in New Sweden until 1966. She later worked in potato packing
plants and the Sacred Heart Hospital emergency room. In 1970, Betty fulfilled
a lifelong dream and attended nursing school at Sacred Heart Hospital.
She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, Parkview Hospital, and Eastern Idaho
Medical Center, serving primarily in the pediatric unit. She retired at age 72.
She was a member of Saint Paul's Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering
There for various activities. For the past three years she enjoyed living at
Morning Star Senior Living and viewed the staff there as part of her family.
Her immediate family greatly appreciated the dedicated care she received there
And at Compass Home Health and Hospice. Her husband passed away in
1971. She is survived by children Gail Charette, Diamond Bar, CA? Greg
(Laura) Evans, Pocatello, ID? Carol (Albert) Seefried, Shelley, ID? Cindy (Roger)
Roe, Yakima, WA? and Mark Evans, Reno, NV. Also surviving are nine
grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great greatgrandchildren.
A viewing will be held Thursday December 1, 2016 at 10:00 am at
Buck Miller Hann Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Thursday December 1, 2016 at 11:00am.
